今この瞬間ですら、恋しく思う時が来る。 原作は「月刊コミックガーデン」/WEBコミックサイト「MAGCOMI」にて連載、黒乃奈々絵による『PEACE MAKER 鐵』が劇場アニメ化! アニメーション制作を『シュタインズ・ゲート』シリーズや『Re:ゼロから始める異世界生活』で名を馳せるWHITE FOXが手がける。監督を数多くの作品で演出を務めるきみやしげる、脚本を『曇天に笑う＜外伝＞』3部作のシリーズ構成などの梅原英司、キャラクターデザインを『六花の勇者』の小磯沙矢香が務める。 主演の市村鉄之助は梶裕貴が青年期を、小林由美子が少年期を演じる! その他、中田譲治、斎賀みつき、櫻井孝宏をはじめ、うえだゆうじ、山口勝平、鳥海浩輔など劇場版アニメにふさわしい人気豪華キャストが集結! ――慶応四年―幕府軍と薩摩軍の争い"鳥羽伏見の戦い"が始まった。土方は前線で指揮を執り、山崎は隊医として負傷者の救護にあたる。しかし圧倒的に不利な銃撃戦、淀城の薩摩への寝返りと、苦戦する新撰組は次第に追い詰められていく。一方で、思いを寄せる少女・沙夜を身請けするため奔走していた鉄之助は、隊を離れたまま幕府軍大敗の知らせを聞く。自分は何のために新撰組に入ったのか――屯所へ来て間もない頃、山崎と交わした会話を思い出した鉄之助は、もう一度刀を手に、隊へと戻る決意をするが・・・抗うことの出来ない運命の戦いが幕を開ける。
