Directed by Robert Connolly, whose Crime Suspense "Thirst and Falsehood" was released in Japan in 2022 to critical acclaim, this film is the realization of a dream for Connolly, who had been fascinated by Tim Winton's original novel published in 1997 and had been longing for a film version. This film is the realization of that dream. The ensemble cast of internationally acclaimed Australian talent is also not to be missed. Abby is played by Mia Wasikowska, who has appeared in the films of such master filmmakers as Jim Jarmusch, Park Chan-wook, David Cronenberg, and Guillermo del Toro after her breakout role in "Alice in Wonderland. She delicately portrays Abby's emotional state as she tries to find a better future with the emotional support of her bond with her mother and her connection with nature. Radha Mitchell (Silent Hill) plays Dora, a mother full of vitality, and Eric Bana, who starred in and produced Connolly's previous film, Thirst and Falsehood, appears as Macca, a fisherman with whom the mother and son share a bond.
