Description

[Machine Translation] Four doctors weave a human medical tale that will move you to tears. Based on a novel of the same title published in 2020 by Kyoko Minami, a practicing physician. Director Izuru Narushima ("Cicada on the Eighth Day") adapted the much-talked-about novel into a film, which delves deeply into themes such as the reality of the medical field and euthanasia, which only a doctor can depict. --The story is about a doctor, Sakiwako Shiraishi (Sayuri Yoshinaga), who works at an emergency medical center in Tokyo, but after taking responsibility for an incident, she resigns and returns to her hometown of Kanazawa. She lives with her father (Min Tanaka), whom she has not seen for a long time, and makes a fresh start as a home doctor at the "Mahoroba Clinic. The director, Toru Senkawa (Toshiyuki Nishida), and a visiting nurse, Mayo Hoshino (Suzu Hirose), focus on treating only five patients who live in the neighborhood, respecting their way of life. Then Seiji Noro (Momori Matsuzaka), a medical school graduate who followed Sakiwako from Tokyo, joins the "Mahoroba" team. Noro is wondering whether to become a doctor, and Mayo is also suffering from a trauma. As Sakiwako meets patients who have chosen home medical care for various reasons and are difficult to treat, she begins to think together with the patients and their families about how to live their lives in their own way as a member of "Mahoroba".
