Effective July 24, 2026, new U.S. import tariffs have come into effect for shipments from Japan.

  • In principle, a 12.5% duty will apply to exports from Japan to the United States.
  • However, as part of the new relief measures, 12.5% will serve as the maximum duty rate, even for items that were previously subject to duty rates higher than 12.5%.
  • The duty exemption for CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, Games, LPs, and Books will remain in effect (except for ECMS shipments).

If your order was placed before this date, the original duty rate will be honored. However, if any changes are made to your order on or after July 24, 2026—including cancellations for any reason or item additions—the new duty rate will automatically apply.

ECMS

Shipping via ECMS to the United States is now available. Duties are currently prepaid at the time of purchase.

Duty is calculated according to the tax rate for each item, but currently, tax exemption is not available for CDs/DVDs/Blu-rays/Games/LPs/Books.

We will switch to tax exemption as soon as it becomes possible.

FedEx FICP Pak

Shipping via FedEx FICP Pak to the United States is now available.

This is a delivery method for FICP that utilizes FedEx Flyers.

DHL, FedEx Priority, and FedEx Priority Pak

For these shipping methods, where duties are paid upon delivery, duties will be collected in accordance with each carrier's policy.

FedEx FICP

For FedEx FICP, where duties are currently prepaid at the time of purchase, the following measures will apply.

Duty Rates

  • CDs / DVDs / Blu-rays / Games / LPs / Books

    • Remain duty-free.

  • All other items

    • From July 24, 2026, the flat duty rate has changed from 10% to 12.5%.
    • From February 27, 2026, the flat duty rate is reduced from 15% to 10%.
    • From around mid-March 2026, duties will be calculated based on the applicable rate for each item category.

Duty Adjustment Policy

Once duties can be calculated for each item, we will process adjustments as follows:

Shipped after July 24, 2026

The duty rate has been changed from 10% to 12.5%. However, 12.5% is the maximum applicable duty rate.

Shipped after February 24, 2026

If the order total should have been reduced due to the duty rate change from 15% to 10%, we will issue a refund in CDJapan points.

When will I receive the points?

Around mid-March 2026 (estimated), point refunds for eligible shipped orders will begin once preparations are complete.

Shipped after mid-March 2026

Refunds in CDJapan points will be issued after shipment.

  • If the recalculated duty amount increases after shipment, no additional charges will be collected.
