About the Author
Detective Conan(Case Closed) is a detective manga series that was serialized in 1994 by Gosho Aoyama and was released as an anime series in 1996.
It’s a story about a high school student who is an amateur detective. His body turns into an elementary first-grade boy by a side effect of a pill which a criminal organization called Black Organization developed. He solves difficult cases one after another using various inventions under the name Conan Edogawa, hoping to find this organization and solution for his body one day.
Even now, more than 25 years after the series debut, the serialization of the manga and broadcast of the anime are still ongoing and have fans all around the world.
Detective Conan fans who haven't had the chance to watch this year's movie Detective Conan: Kurogane no Submarine (Black Iron Submarine), are curiously waiting for the Blu-ray / DVD release. While waiting for the release date of the 26th movie of Detective Conan which is about Ai Haibara and the Black Organization, Let's talk about how a Detective Conan fan can experience that world while visiting Japan.
1- VISITING HOKUEI TOWN
If you visit Gosho Aoyama's hometown Hokuei Town, Tottori, as a Detective Conan fan, you will feel like you are in heaven. This town which is surrounded by the ocean and mountains has Conan Street, Gosho Aoyama Manga Factory, Conan's House Beika Shopping Street, and even the train station is called Conan Station.Conan Street
Conan Street is approximately 1.4km long from Conan Station (JR Yura Station) to Aoyama Gosho Manga Factory. There are around 30 Conan-related statues around the town. Also, there are around 30 stone monuments of Conan manga cover. There are also ceramic plates, manholes, and illustrations around the town so if you are visiting Hokuei Town make your camera ready all the time!
In addition, you can see a life-sized statue of Shinichi Kudo in front of the Hokuei Town library, and Conan dressed as Holmes will welcome you. If you look from a distance, you can see Conan's silhouette at the Encounter Plaza (the former site of the Tottori Prefecture Driver's License Examination Center)
Gosho Aoyama Manga Factory
Gosho Aoyama Manga Factory, which is located a 20-minute walk away from Conan Station, contains various fun devices for you to enjoy the world of “Detective Conan.” This place has a friendly environment for international fans with information in English, Korean, and traditional Chinese. In the factory, there is a corner that has recreated Gosho Aoyama's desk. You can experience the various inventions developed by Hiroshi Agasa, like the Turbo Engine Skateboard that Conan uses when chasing criminals. There are also limited-time exhibitions so you can enjoy the place every time you have been there.
There is also a gift shop where you can purchase Conan goods, I believe it is called Conan Detective Agency (Conan Tanteisha). You can buy movie merchandise and original items only sold there. And don't forget to take a photo with Agasa Hakase in front of the manga factory inside his yellow Volkswagen beetle.

Conan’s House and Beika Shopping Street
You will find Conan’s House and Beika Shopping Street when you walk about ten minutes from the Gosho Aoyama Manga Factory. It is a complex where you can enjoy dining and shopping while experiencing the world of Detective Conan. There is Poirot Cafe, Conan Gelato, Conan's Kitchen, Conan's House(I think Shinichi's House is a more proper saying), and Conan Department Store. When you ring the doorbell of Shinichi's House, you can hear the voice of Ran or Shinichi. And you can visit Shinichi's library which also has statues of Shinichi and Conan.
The Poirot Cafe has the same cafe design as the cafe below the Mouri Detective Agency that appears in the series. You can try Detective Conan Napolitan and Cafe Poirot's Ham Sandwich.
In Conan’s Kitchen, you can enjoy fresh bread and coffee. Also, you can try Aoyama Sensei's original curry. The interior design is inspired by the Detective Conan World. And in the Conan Gelato, you can taste gelato, Italian-style ice cream made by using locally grown fruits.
The gift shop where you can buy souvenirs is called the Conan Department Store.
You can download the Conan street map from the Official Hokuei Town Page (www.e-hokuei.net)
2- LIMITED TIME ATTRACTIONS
There are limited-time exhibitions, escape room attractions, and many more in Universal Studio Japan and museums in Japan. The duration, locations, and dates are changeable. For example, in 2018 in Tokyo, 2019 in Nagasaki, and 2020 in Sapporo, there was an exciting exhibition called Detective Conan: Scientific Investigation Exhibition in the museum. An original story which also contains the characters from the series, was created for this exhibition. Visitors tried to find out the culprit who killed the victim by following clues and using scientific investigation to clear the name of Kogoro Mori.
3-LIMITED TIME SHOPPING OPPORTUNITIES
And of course every year before a new movie release we get excited with Conan Cafe specialties and Conan Shop goods. Also every year popular brands make different collaborations with Detective Conan.
