TEXHNOLYZE -
- Story - Lux (Ru9su) is a desolate city clouded by despair and violence. The inhabitants of this ironically named city include an orphaned boy named Ichise who scrapes out a living by bet boxing, and Ran, a girl who can see the near future. Kyogo Onishi is the leader of Organo, an organization that governs the city. Charisma Kimata heads Salvation Alliance, an armed working class outfit. Other organizations which comprise a significant portion of the city's population include Rakan, a group of youths calling for freedom, and Gabe whose members create their own community along city fringes. Despite frequent skirmishes among these groups, the city maintains its delicate balance of power, since they have somehow learned to complement one another. A Texhnolyze is a highly functional artificial limb of the future, connected to a human body through a neuromechanical interface. Raphia is a rare material that enables this biomechanical linkage. In addition, its existence itself is what makes this godforsaken city worthwhile. Originally intended for cybernetic utility, Texhnolyze has become such a fad that many young people are now using it, just like tattoos and piercings were once all the rage in different times. The hard-edged anime follows the adventures of Ichise who lost his limbs as a result of the uncontrollable violence that visited upon him one day. Will Texhnolyze be available to him? The technology was developed for people with resources beyond Ichise's reach... (C) Rondo Robe - Texhnolyze Seisaku Iinkai
- Production Crew - Like "Haibane Renmei," the series is brought to us by the team responsible for cult anime, "Serial Experiments Lain." Production crew includes character designer Yoshitoshi Abe, script writer Chiaki Konaka, with animation produced by Madhouse Studios. The overall feel of the series is almost diametrically opposite of "Haibane Renmei." Unlike "Haibane," this show centers on male characters, giving it a look with an edgy style. The main theme is performed by rock superstar, Gackt. One of the main soundtrack composers, Hajime Mizoguchi is known for his music for "Vision of Escaflowne," among other shows. (Oh, and he also happens to be the husband of famed composer, Yoko Kanno.) |
